Frequently asked questions

How do you play Teen Patti?

Each player puts a boot into the pot and gets three cards face down. Players take turns to bet blind or seen, or to pack. The last player left, or the best hand at the show, wins the pot. The Teen Patti rules guide walks through a full round.

How many cards does each player get?

Three. That is where the name comes from: "teen patti" means "three cards" in Hindi.

What does blind and seen mean?

A blind player bets without looking at their cards and pays half as much per bet. A seen player has looked and pays double. You can go from blind to seen, but not back.

What is a side show?

When three or more players are left, a seen player can ask the previous seen player to compare hands privately. If they agree, the weaker hand packs.

When can you ask for a show?

When only two players remain. Either player can pay for a show, both hands are turned face up, and the better hand wins.

What is the highest hand in Teen Patti?

A trail of three aces. See every hand in order in the hand rankings guide.

Which is higher, a sequence or a colour?

A sequence (three cards in a row) beats a colour (three cards of one suit). A pure sequence, which is both, beats them all except a trail.

Is A-2-3 a sequence?

Yes. In most Indian rules it is the second-best sequence, after A-K-Q. K-A-2 is not a sequence.

What is Muflis?

The reverse variation, where the lowest hand wins. Read about it and the other variations in our variations guide.

Is Teen Patti a game of skill or luck?

Both. The deal is luck. Deciding when to pack, when to see and how much to bet is skill, and it adds up over many rounds. Indian law now bans online money games whether they are based on skill or chance.

Is online Teen Patti legal in India?

Online Teen Patti for money is banned across India under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025. Free-chip play with no money involved is not what the Act targets. This is general information, not legal advice.

How can I tell if a Teen Patti app is fake?

Files forwarded on WhatsApp or Telegram, names with "mod" or "hack", very small file sizes, and requests for SMS or accessibility permissions are all warning signs. See the app safety guide.

Is OMSI the official site of any Teen Patti app?

No. OMSI is an independent information site. We are not connected to any game developer or operator and do not host app files.

What should I do if I lost money to a Teen Patti scam?

Call 1930 straight away, file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in, and contact your bank or payment app.
